    A Couple's Adventure

    story by Steve and Kate
    Blue

"Steve and Kate chose the Antares with the intention of sailing around the world, looking for an incredibly well-built catamaran. They felt the Antares was a true blue water circumnavigator, easily able to be handled by a couple with her solid hull, oversized rigging, fully protected rudder, and versatile sail plan. Knowing they would eventually cross the Pacific and be off grid, they also decided to refit the boat with an improved SSB, modem, satellite phone, redundant navigation systems, VHF, chart-plotter, radar, anemometer and depth sounder. Additionally, the sails were replaced with new Hydranets and the dinghy was significantly upgraded. Solar capacity was also increased with new batteries, an upgraded inverter, solar charger and battery monitoring system. On longer transits in changing conditions, they knew Blue Summit would keep them safe with her solid vessel, integrity and ability to handle a variety of weather conditions."
